Humblefool (Harsha Suryanarayan) was the best competitive programmer India ever produced.

Being the best he may have worked for big companies, but he wanted to contribute to the community — by teaching programming to students and helping mentor startups. 

This hackathon is in honor of Humblefool: to carry on his legacy and help spread the word about programming across our country. 

Thus, the broader theme here is programming education.

Your Final Submission should be a zip file with three folders/files
  1. Code Files or the link to your github public repository
  2. A text file containing the link to a video describing the application ,explaining the code, platform used, problems faced etc.
  3. A presentation for the judges.
Final Judging Criteria
  • Innovation (30%) The submission creates an innovative and creative solution to a known problem or creates a new market opportunity using the APIs. Innovation is not strictly about ideas, the submission also executes on the innovative idea.
  • User Friendly (25%) The systems and the UI designed should be user friendly
  • Overall (35%) The submission is easy for end users to use and consume.  The application is complete and usable.Is the submission a high quality submission? Would you use this application?
  • Presentation for Judges (10%)

Reliability Rating and Bonus

For challenges that have a reliability bonus, the bonus depends on the reliability rating at the moment of registration for that project. A participant with no previous projects is considered to have no reliability rating, and therefore gets no bonus. Reliability bonus does not apply to Digital Run winnings. Since reliability rating is based on the past 15 projects, it can only have 15 discrete values.

ACM ICPC REGIONAL ROUNDS

ACM ICPC Asia Amritapuri Site Regional 2017 is hosted by Amrita School of Engineering at Amritapuri and Coimbatore.


ACM ICPC Asia Amritapuri Site Preliminary Online contest is scheduled for the end of October / first week of November.  The contest is common for all the ICPC sites in India. Like last year, a separate rank list is prepared after the online contest after removing the cheating teams.
The contest will be held online over the internet.
Cheating teams in the online round cannot participate in the onsite round.
Executing the code online in other online judges may sometimes make your code open on the internet. Such cases also fall under “cheating” category.

Registration Process
Registration is mandatory in Baylor Site.  Here are the steps for online contest registration:
  1. Coach creates a team in the Baylor Site under “Asia Amritapuri First Round Online Programming Contest” Online contest.  Coach is expected to create a team with the official email id. Official email id means, he/she shall use the institutional email id. While creating teams, the coach shall invite the contestants and reserve.
  2. Team members (contestants) complete their profile in Baylor Site. It is mandatory that all the details as required in the Baylor system shall be completed before the last date.
  3. The team shall pay the registration fees of INR 500 as DD/NEFT.

Megathon

ABOUT MEGATHON

Started in 2016, Megathon is an ambitious hackathon organised jointly by E-Cell IIIT Hyderabad and E-Cell IIT Hyderabad with the intention of promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship and development among the student community in and around Hyderabad. The first edition of Megathon turned out to be a huge success with participation from 80 teams having around 450 participants and over 1000 aspirants from 85+ colleges.
The second edition of Megathon comes with a different format where the participants shall be brainstorming on one of the 5 problem statements from the Corporate or Social category. Participants will work on their ideas based on these problem statements over a 24-hour long hackathon before the presentations begin.

Corporate Challenges   

Work on some of the most challenging and prevalent problems provided by Amazon, IBM and PwC.and grab the opportunity to get your solutions and products recognized and used by millions of customers and a chance to be offered an internship at one of these companies along with exciting prizes.

Social Challenges   

Help the She Team of Hyderabad Police to address the problem of women safety and be a part of the revolution of making India a safer place for women. Exciting prizes to be won too !

Format

You will be presented with 5 problem statements divided into two categories - Corporate and Social. The problem statements would be released by 15th of September for you to brainstorm about the problem. This shall be followed by a 24-hour onsite round on the 23-24th September where you would actually be building upon your ideas in teams of 1-4 with the help of some amazing mentors from both industry and academia. The winners would be chosen on the evaluation criteria provided by the case maker that shall be shared with all the participants on the day of the event.
We, as E-Cell, also promote and help in making ideas turn into businesses. So, if any of your ideas across any problem statement has the potential to become a successful startup, CIE ( Centre for Incubation and Entrepreneurship ), IIITH, shall provide an initial seed funding of Rs. 5 lac (subject to serious progress in the next three months). So, do not miss out on this opportunity.


1. Phase 1 ( Early Bird ): You register for the event mentioning your preferred choice of the problem statement. When the problem statements are released, you shall be asked to choose one ( can be different from your preferred choice).Hurry since limited slots. Fee : Rs. 250/-
2. Phase 2 ( Regular ) : Opens on 16/09/2017. You register for a particular problem statement. On the spot payment would also be accepted. Fee : Rs. 500/-
The purpose of the registration fees is to take in only serious participants. The entire amount shall be reimbursed on the day of event in the form of food and free T-shirt among other goodies.


MEGATHON'17 ONLINE

Due to the overwhelming response, we received for Megathon'17 and many more requests daily to be able to participate in the event, we are glad to announce an Online Round for Megathon'17.
The rules for the Online Round are as follows:-
  • The problem statements for the Online Round will remain the same as that of the Onsite rounds, which are available here.
  • The online round is completely independent of the onsite round, i.e., the submissions for the online round will NOT be considered for evaluation and/or prizes we have mentioned for the onsite round ( i.e. the main event on the 23rd-24th September ).
  • The submission portal will open on the 27th September but you can register now. LIMITED SEATS.

Prizes for Megathon-17 Online Round

  • Winning team in each category will receive Rs. 5k worth of Amazon Gift Coupons.
  • Two runner-ups in each category will receive Rs. 2.5k worth of Amazon Gift Coupons each.

Megathon-17 Onsite event would proceed as scheduled and in the same format as was before. You are not eligible and also, it isn't necessary for you to upload your ideas on the portal for the online round.
